Easter 2009

April 2009

We read in 1 Cor. 15: “When this perishable body puts on imperishability, and this mortal body puts on immortality, then the saying that is written will be fulfilled:

“Death has been swallowed up in victory.”

“Where, O death, is your victory?

Where, O death, is your sting?”

This is what Easter is about. It is about life, death and resurrection.

This is our great hope. Indeed in the conviction of our faith resurrection is our certainty.

It can colour my whole life. It can give me strength, hope and joy, even as I suffer my greatest pain or grief.

It means that all the joy, pain, effort and love which goes into my relationships in this life is not lost in the blank wall of death.

It assures me that death is merely a gateway to my true destiny just as it’s birth is a child’s gateway into this great wonderful world I see all around me.

Therefore let us rejoice and be glad as we cry out together; Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia.
