Today is vocations Sunday.

Today we are urged to persuade God, by much prayer and petition, to agree to the conditions we have laid down as regards vocations to the priesthood. He is to fall into line with our specifications and call only unmarried male Catholics to the priesthood. Should He be rash enough to want anybody else there is no way that we will agree to his wishes.

Not only that, but we have also made it very clear to Him that we will not even discuss the possibility, now or ever.

God has only himself to blame for this situation since it is he who, allegedly, gave Peter and his successors the power to tell Him what to do and what not to do.

This power which God, allegedly, handed over, makes it incumbent on Him to go along with our decisions even if it involves grave injustice and discrimination towards large numbers of his beloved children.

I will now give you a few moments to think about this and to point out to God that He must stop making trouble by giving vocations to people who are not acceptable to us.
