Faith

Twenty-seventh of Year A

October 2008

The theme today is appreciation.

We look at the first reading.

‘My friend had a vineyard on a fertile hillside;

He spaded it, cleared it of stones, and planted the choicest vines; Within it he built a watchtower, and hewed out a wine press.’

‘My friend’ is God.

I am the vineyard.

God has created me and put me on a beautiful fertile world.

God has given me many gifts and abilities, He has made me to be his daughter or son and has promised that I will inherit His Kingdom if I so wish.

So what happens now? How do I react to this? What is my response?

You do a lot for your child, what sort of response do you hope for?

In the first reading what kind of response did God get?

We are told; ‘Then he looked for the crop of grapes, but what it yielded was wild grapes.’

Poor God! How disappointed he must have been.

So, what sort of grapes am I producing?
