Is the Christian message of Christmas being forgotten?
Is it too commercialised?

Market sign saying Jesus the reason for the seasonAs Christians, it is up to us to preserve the true meaning of the occasion - but other than attending Mass, how can we? This month we are asking you to let us know how you will place Christ at the centre of this Christmas season. It could be connected with the presents you buy, a family or personal tradition, or maybe something that you are going to try for the first time this year. Please share your ideas with other parishioners and readers of the web-site. Who knows? – your idea could change their experience of Christmas too.

  1. I always make sure that the cards I send depict some aspect of the meaning of Christmas.
  2. Christ saying where did I say that you should buy so much stuff to celebrate my birthday?A group of Christians in Canada make a strong case for reviving the original meaning of Christmas giving . They have started a web-site called www.buynothingchristmas.org , and you can get a useful information sheet (DOC). In response to this, some students at St. Augustine's College, Trowbridge have organised a 'Buy Nothing Secret Santa' this year.
  3. I don't think the real meaning is ever forgotten but different people have different ways of celebrating the good news!
